FOURTEEN local businesses, including warrington-worldwide, have bought iPads for patients at St Rocco’s Hospice, to help them stay in touch with family during the coronavirus crisis.
St Rocco’s was overwhelmed by the response to its ‘14 for 14’ campaign, calling on local businesses to donate an iPad for each of their 14 inpatient beds.
The Hospice has recently suspended all visiting, to protect staff and patients from the threat of Covid-19.
CEO of St Rocco’s, Pam Massey, said:“We’re absolutely bowled over by the generosity of local businesses, especially during these difficult times. With their help, we’re now able to keep patients in touch with their loved ones at any time, day or night.
“It was an incredibly hard decision to stop visiting at the Hospice, but we hope that these iPads will help people to stay connected and lift their spirits during the pandemic.
“We would like to extend a huge thanks to the 14 companies who donated the iPads – Sandstone Supplies UK Ltd, Winwick Road Skip Hire Ltd, Warrington’s Own Buses, Piero Belmonte Photography, BMECH, MD Tool Hire, David Paul Ltd, Libertas Wealth Management, Warrington Worldwide, Birchwood Shopping Centre, Legal for Landlords, Barkinmouse Ltd, Real 5 Networking and 3 Pugs Gin.”
St Rocco’s is taking a leading role in Warrington’s fight against coronavirus. It has recently finished converting its dining room into an emergency ward to help ease pressure on hospitals and community services.
