Fourteen neighbours oppose plan to replace detached house

FOURTEEN residents have lodged objections to a controversial plan to demolish a detached house in leafy Grammar School Road, Lymm and replace it with two detached properties.
Lymm Parish Council has also objected and there is opposition from borough councillor Anna Fradgeley.
Main objections are based on claims the scheme represents overdevelopment of the site and that the proposed two-and-a-half storey house would be out of character with existing properties.
The opposition follows on from the granting of two previous similar applications that have resulted in existing houses being demolished to make way for large, three-storey properties.
Cllr Fradgeley says the new property would involve in an increase in footprint and cubic volume compared with the existing house. It would present an overbearing mass of brickwork and glazing to the frontage, impact on the spaciousness of Grammar School Road,
Design of the two houses would be out-of-keeping with the character of the road.
The parish council also objects on the grounds of over-development of the site.
However, planning officers argue that the development of the site for residential purposes is acceptable and that the size, scale and massing of the proposed houses is acceptable in relation to the area..
They do not believe the development would cause any significant harm to the character of the area, highway safety or ecology. They are recommending the scheme be approved.
