PLANS have been drawn up for a multi-storey car park with room for more than 1,000 cars on the Birchwood Park business estate at Warrington.
The five-storey building will be build on the site of an existing surface car park accesed via Reynolds Avenue or Griffith Avenue, it borough council planners give the go-ahead.
Birchwood Town Council has not objected to the development, but has raised concerns about speeding motorists within the business park and wants planners to consider fixed speed awareness signs.
At present there are 880 parking spaces provided on surface car parks within the business park so the development will provide an extra 127 spaces, as the existing spaces will be closed.
The multi-storey car park will not include spaces for the disabled as individual office buildings – including those not yet built – are required to have disabled parking in close proximity. But there will be spaces for 12 motor cycles.
A report to be considered by the borough’s development management committee says there are varying speed limits on the estate, 5mph, 10mph and 20mph, depending on the type of road. All have corresponding signage.
Officers are recommending the plan be approved
