SEVEN fire engines were called to Warrington Town Hall in the early hours of the morning – because of a bit of dust.
An automatic fire alarm activated and – because the Town Hall is a heritage building – a full turnout of fire applicances from Warrington, Birchwood and Stockton Heath was ordered.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “It was 1.45am, it was a heritage building and as far as we knew there was no-one there, so we had to go.”
On arrival it was found the alarm had been set off by a bit of dust.
Earlier, firefighters were called to a small fire in the play area at Orford Park which was put down to vandals. No damage was caused to property.
At 4.45am fire crews were called to land at the rear of shops in Honiton Way, Penketh, where arsonists had set fire to two skips. Again, there was no damage to property.
