Hundreds pack into village church for Remembrance

HUNDREDS of Lymm residents packed into St Mary’s Church today for the annual Civic Remembrance Sunday service.
It was standing room only as an unusually large congregation turned up for the service which this year marked exactly 100 years since the end of World Was 1 – the “Great War.”
Representatives of Lymm Parish Council, the Armed Forces, Scouts, Guides, The Royal British Legion and other organisations were among the congregation.
Before the service, there was a procession to the church from the Davies Way car park. Afterwards, wreaths were laid at the War Memorial in the church grounds, overlooking Lymm Dam
During the service, conducted by the Rector, the Rev Beverley Jameson, the names of all those Lymm men known to have given their lives during World War 1, World War 2 and other conflicts, were read out.
The church was decorated with hundreds of poppies made by various schools, organisations and individuals.
A bugler sound The Last Post and Reveille and the national two minutes silence was observed
