Child actors to share stage with a steam engine

CHILDREN from across Warrington will be sharing the stage with a steam engine this week in a play inspired by the classic E. Nesbitt story The Railway Children.
The children and young adults with ages ranging between seven and 18 have been rehearsing for more than four months with Warrington-based theatre company Encore Productions.
They are set to start a run of four shows at The Pyramid Arts Centre on Thursday. They will be sharing the stage with a cast of adults and a steam engine to bring to life the story, made famous with the 1970 film starring Jenny Agutter and Bernard Cribbins.
The volunteer run Encore Productions were formed 10 years ago to provide adult performers with an alternative outlet to showcase their talents, with a primary objective to provide new, edgy and exciting productions.
As well as The Railway Children they are currently producing the new musical “The Wind in the Willows” to be performed at the Brindley Theatre, Runcorn in April next year.
Encore believe that theatre should be accessible, entertaining and engaging for everyone.  They believe in one simple mantra… “amateur theatre with a professional attitude”.
