MP Helen Jones is highlighting the fact that free flu jabs can be obtained from local pharmacies – helping to take the pressure off GP surgeries.
The Warrington North MP received her jab – she is entitled to it because she suffers from asthma – from the Well Pharmacy in Capesthorne Road, Orford.
She received her jab from the pharmacist and branch manager Alisha Mann.
Afterwards she said: “I would encourage everyone who is eligible to ensure they get their free flu vaccine. You can get your vaccination from your pharmacist – the process is quick and easy and you don’t have to wait for a GP appointment.
“The elderly, people with certain medical conditions and carers are among those eligible for a free flu vaccine. My message is, check if you are eligible and if so, go down to your local pharmacy and get the jab.”
Alisha Mann said: “Flu vaccinations have started in the last few weeks and I have been promoting the service to help protect all our patients; especially those at high risk.
“Having your vaccine done at a community pharmacy is also a great way to free up GP time for other appointments which I know is a current problem in the area.”
