Matt goes the extra mile for St Rocco’s Hospice patients by delivering free ice cream

LOCAL ice cream man Matthew Bain went the extra mile when he was asked if he could deliver a “Whippy” ice cream to St Rocco’s Hospice.

Not only did he send one of his Matt’s Ices vans to the hospice, he arranged for free ice creams for every patient, staff and visitors!

His kind-hearted gesture has now maded him a hit on social media after putting a smile on the faces of many people.

Orford mum of two Kerry Harper posted her thanks on facebook after Matt answered her husband Rob’s call to deliver a Whippy ice cream to his mother who was been at the hospice for just over a week.

Although she has been able to eat ice cream from a tub, she told her son she fancied a Whippy icee cream. So Rob put in the call and then Matt went the extra mile.

Kerry posted her thanks on facebook saying: “My husbands mum is in St Rocco’s hospice and really fancied a whippy ice cream. My husband contacted Matt to ask if he would deliver to the hospice. Not only did Matt send one of his vans, he gave every patient, staff and visitor an ice cream of their choice for FREE!

“What a wonderful thing you did Matt! You put smiles on a lot of people’s faces tonight.”

Her post has now been shared by over 500 people and attracted hundreds of comments.

St Rocco’s Hospice spokersperson Karen Drury said: ““We are always amazed and so grateful for the way that people are willing to put themselves out to support our patients and families! Thank you Matt’s Ices for such a lovely gesture and putting a smile on everyone’s face yesterday evening.”
