Walton Lea gearing up for Christmas

1

THE Walton Lea Project based at Walton is gearing up for Christmas with a whole new range of festive gifts – along with their usual herd of reindeer which they hope will be flying out.

The charity which provides supported employment to adults with physical and learning difficulties, operates from a historic walled garden off Chester Road, Higher Walton.

It provides work in gardening, woodwork, floristry, furniture and bicycle up-cycling. Its aim is to improve the self-esteem and status of adults with learning difficulties by helping them to play a full part in the local community.

With another site at Long Lane, Warrington, Walton Lea sells a huge variety of home-grown shrubs, flowers, fruit and veg, hanging baskets and window boxes, as well as stylishly up-cycled crafts and furniture for the home and garden.

They are now taking Christmas wreath and crem pot orders, their farm shop is stocked with wonderful and unique items handmade by their talented teams of beneficiaries and support workers in their craft, woodwork and horticulture departments. The tea room is warm and toasty and awash with delicious cake and mince pies for customers to savour.

It is open weekdays and weekends 10am to 4pm.
