WARRINGTON’S LiveWire have reached their target of completing one million repetitions (reps) in 37 days.
The epic challenge, which was to mark National Fitness Day, asked people to play their part in completing as many squats, press-ups and burpees as possible and post short videos to social media to nominate friends to join in.
A repathon was held at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub with more than 200 people completing 20,283 reps which helped LiveWire smash their target reaching a total of 1,010,723 reps.
The challenge has also raised money for St Rocco’s Hospice who provide specialist care and support across Warrington with Decathlon’s Warrington store donating £400 now LiveWire have reached the one million rep mark.
Over the course of the challenge, people in America, Spain and Italy got involved with one fitness fanatic even completing 30 reps at The Vatican in 41 degrees Celsius heat.
National Fitness Day is an annual event of mass participation and celebration of all things physical activity which runs all over the UK with activities and events at local leisure centres, gyms and health clubs.
Jake Smith, senior LiveWire advisor for fitness, said: “We’re so pleased to have smashed our target and to have raised more than £400 for St Rocco’s, a charity that does wonderful work across the town.
