THE governors of Culcheth High School have appointed deputy head  Chris Hunt as head teacher, following the shock resignation of former head David Terry.
Mr Hunt has been deputy head at Culcheth for more than six years and last year completed a five month spell as interim headteacher in the run-up to the school’s successful Ofsted inspection.
In a letter to parents and carers, chairman of governors Anthony Heald said: “This year he has again shown himself to be a highly capable leader.”
Mr Hunt, writing in the school newsletter, said: “I am very pleased, proud and privileged to be appointed the headteacher of Culcheth High School.
“ I have been deputy headteacher for the last six years and I intend to use my in-depth knowledge and understanding of the school to work with the students, staff and the community to achieve even greater things.
“As a school deeply rooted in the local community, I look forward to strengthening these relationships and links further to develop Culcheth High School so that it is truly a community school working in the community for the community.”
Mr Terry left the school by mutural agreement and for personal reasons after spending less than a year in post, arriving in May last year.
