A DESIGNER from Daresbury, near Warrington, been nominated for a Construction Champion Award at the 2026 National Building and Construction Awards.

Jack Bennion, 30, who works as a designer for Redrow NW, has been nominated for the award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the industry and dedication to supporting both colleagues and the wider community.
Supported by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), the award highlights professionals who inspire others, drive improvement within the sector and contribute to the continued success and growth of the construction industry.
“I was genuinely surprised and honoured to be nominated, particularly as I don’t know who nominated me,” said Jack.

“It’s especially meaningful because the nomination recognises the work I do outside of my day-to-day role, supporting the wider construction industry through CIOB, mentoring and developing future talent.
“Being shortlisted feels like recognition not just of my own efforts, but of the value of encouraging and supporting others within the industry.”
Alongside his professional achievements, Jack currently serves as chair of the CIOB Merseyside & Cheshire Hub Committee. One of the youngest chairs in the organisation’s history. he helps to lead a team of volunteers who organise events and initiatives for both professionals and students.

For the past 10 years Jack has also been a dedicated Beaver Scout Leader in Norley.
“It has always been important to me to give something back to the Scout Group and community that helped develop many of the ‘skills for life’ which I use in my professional life today,” he added.
