LOCAL music legend Pete Waterman and iconic Warrington DJ Wiggy delighted hundreds of fans as they reunited to bring the spirit of the legendary Mr Smiths nightclub back to Warrington on Saturday night.

The duo headlined a special event at Golden Square, rekindling memories of the town’s famous nightclub era that helped define a generation of clubbers.
Pete Waterman, one of the UK’s most successful record producers and hitmakers, has long enjoyed a close association with Mr Smiths during its heyday, while resident DJ Wiggy became a household name among many of the revellers who packed the venue every weekend.
Their appearance attracted former club-goers from across the region, many eager to relive the music and atmosphere that made Mr Smiths one of the North West’s most celebrated nightlife destinations.
Golden Square provided the backdrop for an evening of classic dance anthems and chart hits spanning the 1970s, 80s and 90s, as crowds sang, danced and celebrated Warrington’s clubbing heritage.
Mr Smiths, which closed its doors in 2015 after more than four decades at the heart of the town’s nightlife, was renowned for attracting some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. For many, Pete Waterman’s appearances remain among the venue’s most memorable nights.
Wiggy said he was delighted to be back alongside his long-time friend, helping revive memories of one of Warrington’s most iconic venues.
