YOUNG people across Warrington are being given the opportunity to try out new activities for free during the school holidays at the annual VPX event taking place in Victoria Park.
Community Police Support Officers Tony Spruce and Tom Reid have once again pulled out all the stops to organise the annual event – despite the set back of some funding cuts.
As part of the Victoria Park Experience (VPX) there will also be a chance to try a wide variety of events including street dancing, football, cricket and rugby, VPX takes place on each Tuesday in August, starting next Tuesday, August 7 at the Knutsford Road venue from 11am to 4pm and for the first time this year there is a special VPX extra event for over 15s from 5pm-7pm, including a skate jam, DJ and street games.
There will also be a mini VPX taking place at Warrington Town Football club on Sunday August 12 from 11am -4pm, providing the opportunity to try out some sporting taster sessions.
During the past few years thousands of young people have taken part in the events.
PCSO Tony Spruce said: “It has been tough work getting in funding this year but we were determined to keep young people entertained over the summer holidays.
“We have established strong links with many schools/youth groups in Warrington and by being involved in VPX it allows us to strengthen those links and to break down any potential barriers.”
Anyone who wants to take part can just turn up on the day. Other activities will include a special graffiti workshop and coaching in BMX riding, skating, volleyball, athletics skateboarding and much more.

VPX? The “MUST ATTEND” holiday event. If you have youngsters, that’s the place to take them.
