Hybrid Solutions Group has launched Hybrid Connectivity Solutions (HCS), bringing together the former Passcomm team under a dedicated fibre and connectivity business.
HCS officially launches on 1 October and will specialise in fibre, copper and critical-infrastructure connectivity across rail, highways, data centres, oil and gas, and enterprise networks.
The team and Passcomm product line have operated under Hybrid Electrical Solutions for the past two years. The launch of HCS now establishes connectivity as a standalone business within Hybrid Solutions Group.
Passcomm was founded in Warrington in 1999 by Chris Fay and Bernard McCabe and became particularly established within rail telecommunications and other critical infrastructure environments.
Following the sale of Passcomm in 2022 and the buyer’s later exit from the value-added markets the company had served, Hybrid Solutions Group Managing Director Phil McCabe, son of the late Bernard McCabe, brought the team and product line back into the group.
Phil McCabe, Director, Hybrid Connectivity Solutions and Managing Director, Hybrid Solutions Group, said: “My dad co-founded Passcomm in 1999. Bringing its people back together and giving them their own platform again means a lot to me personally, but this isn’t a nostalgia project. It’s a serious, specialist business with the best team in the market, and as part of Hybrid Solutions Group it has the backing to grow.”
The new business is led by former Passcomm Sales Director Stuart Read, who becomes Managing Director of HCS, alongside former Passcomm Managing Director David Waine, who joins as Technical Director. Both are major shareholders in the new company. Former Passcomm Customer Services Manager Danielle Sutch and other members of the original team have also joined HCS, while Phil McCabe sits on its board.
HCS will provide fibre optic and copper connectivity, FTTH and rail telecommunications products, bespoke stainless steel cabinets and enclosures, tunnel signage and fibre test equipment, alongside data centre electrical installation and project management services.
Stuart Read, Managing Director, Hybrid Connectivity Solutions, said: “Rail was our home, and it still is. But the demand for resilient fibre in highways, data centres, energy and enterprise has grown hugely, and our customers there deserve a partner that speaks their language. HCS lets us do that clearly.”
David Waine, Technical Director, Hybrid Connectivity Solutions, added: “Our customers have always come to us with problems, not purchase orders. That hasn’t changed. What’s changed is that we now have our own name, our own focus, while working with the best international manufacturers in the business. It’s the same team, doing what Passcomm has always done: leading the way on fibre connectivity.”
