Warehouse plan for supermarket

PLANNING chiefs are to meet a second time to consider proposals for a warehouse extension and alterations to a service yard at the Asda store at Westbrook, Warrington.
The matter came before the planning sub-committee earlier this month at the request of local councillor David Earl, who is concerned about highway safety and limited consultation with neighbours.
But members decided they needed to view the site and deferred a decision.
Asda want to enlarge the existing covered warehouse, re-grade part of the service yard and remove existing gates. A canopy will be built over the area used by vehicles delivering internet orders.
Planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
They say there is currently no designated loading area for delivery vehicles and the changes will allow more efficient, less time consuming deliveries, removing the problem of lorries parking on double yellow lines in Westbrook Crescent.
