A five-car collision on the M62 at Warrington and a vehicle fire on the M56 caused delays of around 90 minutes on the motorway network this morning (Tuesday).
Thankfully there were no reports of any injuries following the collision in lane four eastbound between J8 (Burtonwood) and J9 (Warrington).
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: “At around 6.45am on Tuesday, October 21, police were called to reports of a collision on the M62 eastbound between junctions 8 and 9.
“Highways Officers , ambulance and Fire attended and found there had been a collision involving five cars in lane four.”
There are no reports of any injuries and recovery work has now been completed and all lanes re-opened, although there are still delays in the area.
Rush hour congestion was also impacted by a vehicle fire on the M56 near Warrington this morning.
The incident at 7:05 was on the eastbound carriageway from junction 10, Stretton, to junction 9, Lymm.
Two lanes were closed due to the incident with congestion stretching back to junction 11, Preston Brook.
Two fire engines from Birchwood and Lymm atended at the scene. Crews extinguished a fire in a car using a hose reel. The fire is believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
Recovery is complete and all lanes are now running on the #M62 eastbound between J8 (#Burtonwood) and J9 (#Warrington) following an earlier collision.
