UPDATED: POLICE at Warrington have issued a warning to parents and carers about individuals acting suspiciously near schools at Culcheth and Poplars & Hulme.
They are reported to have been speaking to children and attempting to entice them into their cars.
Police have informed the borough council and individual schools across the whole of Warrington have been contacted.
A Cheshire Police spookesperson said: “We are aware of two separate reports of suspicious activity in the Culcheth and Poplars and Hulme areas of Warrington.
The first incident was reported to police at 6.43pm on Wednesday 15 October. The caller reported that around 6pm that evening, a man, described as Chinese, had offered a 9-year-old boy sweets in the Mendip Avenue area in Poplars and Hulme. The boy refused and left the area before returning home.
“The second incident was reported at 12.27pm, Thursday 16 October. In this instance, the caller reported that at around 3.40pm on Wednesday 15 October, a woman in a black BMW spoke to a 9-year-old boy and asked him if he wanted to get in the car near to Newchurch Lane, Culcheth. The boy refused and left the area with his friends before returning home. The woman is described as being between 65 and 70 years old.
“Officers are currently working to establish the circumstances of each incident. Anyone with any information which may assist officers with their enquiries is asked to contact 101.”
