JAKE Burton bagged four goals as Warrington Rylands progressed in the Liverpool Senior Cup with a 2-4 victory at the TD Hughes Stadium against a defiant Maghull.
Youngsters Sam Muyengwa, Malik Marshall and Kyle Pendlebury were all given a start and didn’t look out of place.
Rylands started well as expected against a team that plays in the North West Counties League Division One North, three leagues lower in the football pyramid, with Burton causing chaos in the home defence.
Burton was deemed offside several times before he broke the deadlock, beat the offside line and scored the first goal of the match. Fifteen minutes later, he stepped up to take a free kick from outside the box and even though Luke Riley’s dive slowed it down, the shot was so powerful it spun into the back of the net.
Muyengwa, playing up front in his first full game for Warrington, put the ball in the net after the break, but strangely the linesman raised his flag for offside. Immediately, Burton made amends, beating Riley once again for his hat-trick.

Maghull continued to fight, however, and pulled a goal back; Rylands had brought on substitute keeper Jerry Akpo who jumped to catch a high cross in a crowded net, but when a Maghull player backed into him the ball dropped to the feet of Jacob Till, who gratefully tapped it into the net.
Thirteen minutes later, Burton put the game out of reach with his fourth of the evening but Wil Hoey took a consolation goal with minutes left on the clock.
Warrington are back in league action on Saturday when they make another long trip of the month when they travel to Derbyshire to face Ilkeston Town FC.
