Liberal Democrat Councillors in Stockton Heath have launched a petition calling on Warrington Council to re-paint road markings in the village.
Petitions are one way of drawing issues of local concern to the attention of the Council by providing evidence of the depth of feeling about the issue and the level of local support for what is being proposed. For a petition to receive a response from the council it must receive 100 or more valid signatures.
Cllr Judith Wheeler says, “We are so fed up of Warrington Borough Council’s failure to repaint the road markings in Stockton Heath. For over a year ,I have been asking the Council to repaint the line markings in Stockton Heath, as have residents and the Police. The lack of road markings in a busy village is leading to more dangerous driving and parking. Enforcement Officers are struggling to issue tickets for offences because the markings no longer exist in some places.”
Cllr Sharon Harris adds, “Repeated requests appear to be falling on deaf ears, so we hope that with enough signatures, this petition will force some action. We already have over 100 signatures, so we are well on our way to getting the Council to listen. The petition is called ‘Where are our line markings?”
