Council leader flies the flag for Warrington’s growth opportunities

THE Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Cllr Hans Mundry, recently took part in a conversation about Warrington’s growth opportunities at a significant national event.

Cllr. Mundry represented the council at the UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF), which is an annual event attracting national and international investors and developers. The event took place over three days in Leeds.
At UKREiiF, Cllr Mundry took part in a conversation about the opportunities of devolution, and talked about what it could mean for areas like Cheshire and Warrington. Cllr Mundry was joined by leaders from across the country, including Minister of State for Local Government and English Devolution, Jim McMahon MP, to talk about how devolution could unlock more powers, more funding and more opportunities for local areas.
The council also shared an exhibition stand at UKREiiF with Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Enterprise Cheshire and Warrington, to showcase investment opportunities across the region.
In particular, the council hosted an investment drop-in for people to find out about the nationally significant Warrington Bank Quay development, alongside plans for the continued growth and regeneration of the town centre. The Bank Quay gateway development could completely transform transport connectivity with a new rail line and interchange station, as well as providing opportunities for more business space and housing.

Cllr Mundry said: “I was pleased to attend UKREiiF to ‘fly the flag’ for Warrington and the opportunities that are here. Warrington remains open for business: we have a well-established and strong economy, good jobs, a business-friendly environment, and plans to continue growing and developing. In recent years, our town centre has undergone a real renaissance, and we have big ambitions to build on this.
“Equally, it was good to talk about the benefits of a potential devolution agreement for Cheshire and Warrington alongside Jim McMahon MP. We will continue to make the case for why devolution will provide more opportunities for areas like Cheshire and Warrington, with more powers transferred to local areas from London – supported by multi-year, multi-million-pound funding agreements.”

  1. You need to start working on reducing the 2 billion pounds debt the Labour party have created for the town under their reckless investments
