UP to eight weeks of road closures are set to start at Appleton, Warrington, next month (April) to allow Scottish Power to carry out new cabling works.
The work will take place in three phases starting from April 7th, with local diversions in place.
Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving as follows: Broomfields Road from its junction with London Road to its junction with Broomfields Road; Delphfields Road from its junction with London Road to its junction with Burfield Drive; Lyons Lane from its junction with London Road to its junction Park Crescent; Lyons Lane (westbound traffic) from its junction with Longwood Road to its junction with Park Crescent.
The Order will be effective from 7th April 2025. The closures are for a period of 8 weeks and will be carried out in phases as follows: Phase 1 will involve the closures of Broomfields Road and Delphfields Road from 7th April 2025 for 15 days; Phase 2 will involve the closure of Lyons Lane from 7th April 2025 for 15 days; Phase 3 will involve the closure of Lyons Lane to westbound traffic and will commence upon completion of phase 2. However, the closures will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative routes will be as follows: Broomfields Road via Greenway, Dingleway, London Road and vice versa; Delphfields Road via Burfield Drive, Windmill Lane, Quarry Lane and vice versa; Lyons Lane via Longwood Road, London Road and vice versa.
The road closures are required to allow for Scottish Power to install a new HV cable.
