FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a person from their car and families from their homes after floodwaters hit Longshaw Street, Warrington.
At 19:13 last night one crew from Runcorn attended on Longshaw Street and helped the driver from their car and to safety after it became stuck in floodwaters which have impacted the area.
Earlier, shortly before 6pm firefighters used wading equipment to rescue five residents from properties affected by the flooding on Longshaw Street.
It was one of a number of rescue operations that took place throughout the evening on Longshaw Street where two people were also rescued from their property by firefighters from Tarporley.
Firefighters also rescued three residents and a dog from a nearby flooded property on Longshaw Street.
Shortly before 6pm firefighters used a raft to evacuate four people from a flooded property in Reid Avenue.
Since midnight on New Year’s Day, firefighters and officers responded to over 40 separate flooding incidents across Cheshire.
Earlier in the day Warrington South MP Sarah Hall said she is “deeply concerned” as an emergency incident was declared over various flooding incidents across Warrington.
It followed on from various flooding incidents across the town with numerous roads closed and homes evacuated at Bewsey and the Bridgewater Canal bursting its banks near Lymm.
