VARIOUS road closures will be in place at Lymm for the annual Carols from The Cross event, which attracts thousands of people into the village centre.

Lymm Parish Council has confirmed that Carols from The Cross will be back – live – from the centre of the village this Christmas Eve.

The festive ball will start rolling, warming up the crowds’ vocal cords from 6.30 pm. Local schools’ festive songs will be played from 6.30 pm with carols starting
from 7pm. A team of local dignitaries including Lymm’s Town Crier, AJ Powell (grandson of former Crier, Peter Powell), and Reverend Beverley Jameson from St Mary’s Parish Church, will be on stage joining in the festivities.
Stage, sound and light experts will ensure that everyone who comes to the village will be able to hear the event, once again staged from the Lower Dam. Due to popular demand, Warrington Brass Band will be back on stage this year, providing a live musical accompaniment to the Carols, joined by Helen Elliott from Smiley Tunes providing the prompts for singing.
There will be no physical carols booklets available on the night. These can be downloaded from the Parish Council website in the coming days.
QR codes will be available throughout December for donations towards Carols and Christmas in
Lymm. All donations will be gratefully received via https://www.lymmparishcouncil.gov.uk/news/you-can-support-lymm-at-christmas-2

There will be three phases of road closures this year to allow for the installation of a larger stage to host the brass band. There will still be access for pedestrians. Diversions will be in place.

reopen from the village centre.
Part 2 From 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm Bridgewater Street to New Road
This closure includes a wider area of the village and covers the main event and the safe clearance of all audience members afterwards. No access to any driveway or car park in the road closure area will be available during this time until some of the roads reopen at 8.30 pm, except for access for an emergency vehicle.
Part 3 From 8.30pm to 10pm Bridgewater Street to The Cross.
This road closure is in place for the deconstruction and removal of the stage and sound system at the Lower Dam.
Special thanks to the two Lymm businesses that are the main sponsors of the event – E. Smith & Son for bedding plants, hanging baskets and Christmas Trees since 1959, and Sextons Village Bakery for bakery and confectionery items since 1969.
