WARRINGTON primary school pupils got a valuable insight into future career paths thanks to housebuilder Taylor Wimpey and charity Magic Breakfast.

The two organisations visited Magic Breakfast partner school, St Ann’s CE Primary School on 8th March to deliver an ‘Aspiration Day’. The partners held a workshop to give Year 6 pupils an explanation of the various career paths within a company. Pupils were able to ask whatever questions they could think of and take part in mock interviews.
Taylor Wimpey is building new homes across the North West, including at the Aldon Wood development in Warrington. The housebuilder has a national partnership with Magic Breakfast, a charity that provides free, nutritious breakfasts to school children facing hunger, and has made a contribution of £80,000 to provide over 285,714 breakfasts for pupils in England and Scotland during the school term of September 2023 to September 2024.* The organisations are also carrying out a programme of school visits across the region and beyond.
Liz Grumbley, Teacher at St Ann’s CE Primary School, said: “The pupils enthusiastically crafted questions for the Taylor Wimpey team and thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Thanks to Taylor Wimpey and Magic Breakfast for offering this enriching experience to the children. We hope we can work with them in the future on other exciting initiatives.”

Linda Worthington, Engagement Partner for Magic Breakfast, said: “The Aspiration Day went really well. I am not sure who was more excited – the staff from Taylor Wimpey or the children.
“Once the interviews got underway, everyone was chatting, laughing and engaging wonderfully. It was lovely to see the social interaction between the pupils and the staff from Taylor Wimpey. I’m sure the pupils got a great deal out of the event, and hopefully have been inspired to look at different job roles in the future too.”
Lisa Waugh, Managing Director at Taylor Wimpey North West said: “I would like to thank the school and pupils for giving us the opportunity to demonstrate the variety of exciting roles the construction sector has to offer, and the possibility of inspiring the next generation of future employees.”
Simon Devine, Technical Director at Taylor Wimpey North West said: ““It was a privilege to be part of this. The children’s enthusiasm and questioning made it an enjoyable experience for all of us and I can only pass on our thanks for being allowed to be part of this. I think as an industry, engagement with children at this age is important to encourage more young people into house building.”
