INNOVATIVE plans for a “pump track” at Chapelford, Warrington have been approved by borough planning chiefs.

The track – which will be used by cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders, is to be constructed in Dakota Park.
It has been the subject of widespread public consultation – and most residents said they supported the scheme.
Police say that in some area, provision of a “pump track” has resulted in a reduction in anti-social behaviour.
Dakota Park already has open green spaces, children’s play areas, a multi use games area, a viewing area and footpath network.

There is also some formal use of the park for football and cricket.
A pump tracks is used by bikers, skateboarders ans scooter riders. It requires little or no pedalling with the riders using a pumping action to propel the vehicle along a track which has a series of hills and corners.
The proposals for the pump track were put forward by the borough council in partnership with Great Sankey Parish Council – and have been given the go-ahead by the borough’s development management committee.
