ELLIOT Logsdon – aged 19 and studying business at Warrington and Vale Royal College – won a bronze award in the Melton Mowbray British Pie awards.
And from tomorrow (Saturday) customers at the Horseshoe Inn, Croft, will be able to sample his award winning pie.
Warrington & Vale Royal college student Elliot works part-time around his studies at the Horseshoe, where his dad, Wesley, is chef and co-owner along with Dave Monks.
He has been making pies at the Horseshoe for just three months and the locals love them.
But his beef short rib and ale pie claimed the bronze award in a tough contest in which almost 900 pies were entered. And it will go on the specials board from tomorrow.
Dr Matthew O’Callaghan chairman of the British Pie Awards said; ‘I’m so pleased that The Horseshoe Pies are amongst the award winners. The judges were very complimentary about the pie which is why it won the bronze award.”
Elliot started making his own pastry and pies just before Christmas , and has been adding his creations to the specials board each week at the pub.
