CONTRACTORS were left with red faces at the weekend following an unfortunate “No Enty” error on road markings at Winwick, Warrington.
The typo caused much amusement on social media and also the timing of the works.
Local resident Stuart Mann said: “Whilst it’s clear the error was an obvious amusing accidental mistake you’ve got to question the logic of the whole debacle.
“Warrington Borough Council has paid a team some significant overtime to do the line painting and some potholes overnight, on a road that’s effectively closed the whole of this week due to planned Parkside roadworks, so it could have been done in the daytime, and now they will have to pay another team to come back out to fix the error.
“I know the council is looking for cost savings but missing letters off road markings might be a little excessive!”
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “The contractor has now corrected this error with no additional cost to the council.”

Far too common nowadays the 3 Rs count for nothing today .
Standards are falling through the floor.
As for spelling look at the appalling articles reported on and printed in the WG !
The rest of the repairs to the road around that area all look as though they were carried out under darkness and no lights,, If the council paid good money for them then i’d definitely ask for a refund and go so far as to say they’re a threat to life or limb if your on a motorbike
Oh glory be. I suppose easily done lol
