Plans to demolish house built almost a century ago

PLANS to demolish a large detached house built almost a century ago and replace it with two modern detached houses have been submitted to Warrington Borough Council.

The scheme proposes the demolition of Delph House, in Delphfields Road, Appleton – an arts and crafts-style house believed to date from around 1930.
The house is said to be dated, in need of maintenance, remedial work and updating to bring it up to present-day standards The replacement properties would be two-and-a-half-storey properties of high-quality design and, although brought forward to provide larger rear gardens, would still stand further back from the road than most other properties in Delphfields Road.

Driveways and parking space would be at the front although each new property would have a double garage.
They would be modern, family homes, of a high quality and including energy saving measures which would be difficult and costly to provide in the existing house.
Borough Council planning officers are currently considering the proposals.
