Cheshire Day 2023: What’s your Cheshire story?

0

RESIDENTS, businesses and organisation across Cheshire and Warrington are being urged to share their stories ahead of Cheshire Day 2023.

Cheshire’s story is rich and diverse – with its very own Magna Carta, the nation’s first named cheese, a girl who fell down a rabbit hole to find Wonderland, a county built on salt and one that looks to the stars to deliver the wonders of the universe – all of which have shaped Cheshire into a county to be proud of.
Cheshire Day takes part on March 30 every year and is all about celebrating everything Cheshire.
This year, ahead of the event, residents, businesses and organisations are being asked to share their stories such as why they call Cheshire home, their fondest memories, favourite things to do, all the stories that make Cheshire the best place to live, work and play.
These stories will then be shared to show the world what makes Cheshire so special.
People, businesses, and organisations have already started sharing their own unique Cheshire stories as inspiration for this Cheshire Day.

The Hollies Farm Shop

In 1959, Edward and Rose moved into the Hollies house, in Little Budworth. Their son Richard, who was farming at a local farm at the time, joined them, and this was the start of The Hollies Farm Shop.
The Hollies Farm Shop started as a vegetable stand on the side of the road with an honestly box and grew and grew to the successful Cheshire business it is today.
Richard is now 90 and can still be seen working in the grounds of The Hollies most days, tending to his plants, growing his pumpkins and Christmas trees, and keeping an eye on Phil, Ed and Suzanne, his children and the 3rd generation of The Hollies Farm Shop family.

Meanwhile, Matthew Given, UK Group Director for HR at Haier UK, said: “Basing ourselves in Warrington seemed like a really natural step to be able to regularly bring together our teams across commercial and head office operations, with our service team based just down the road in Bolton.
“Birchwood Park massively appealed to us due to its fantastic transport links and ability to widen our reach, meaning we had access to even more fresh talent within close proximity.
“The space we’ve taken has allowed us to create a fantastic brand activation centre, auditorium and meeting centre that showcases our brands perfectly, as well as bringing together colleagues from different functions within the company who were dispersed regionally and may not have had the chance to work collaboratively day-to-day with each other previously.

Trevor Brocklebank, Chair of Marketing Cheshire said: “This Cheshire Day, we want to show that world that we’re the best place to live, work, study and visit.
“From Chester to Tarporley, Warrington, Macclesfield and Sandbach, what makes Cheshire so special is the people that call it home, the businesses and organisations that thrive here, the stunning landscape and our brilliant towns and villages. That’s why we want to hear from you. To really show what makes Cheshire great we want the people that make Cheshire great to tell their story.
“This could be a memory, why you came to live here or set up your business or just one of the places you think make Cheshire so special.”
