WARRINGTON Wolves led four times but still fell to another Super League defeat at the hands of Wakefield.

Kelepi Tanginoa’s try three minutes from the end gave Wakefield a 30-24 victory, and moves them level on points with the Wolves in the bottom half of the table.

It’s a fifth straight defeat for Daryl Powell’s side and their 11th in their last 13 games, as their slide continues.

Wakefield, Warrington and Salford are now all on 10 points, though they have a six point cushion over bottom side Toulouse, who look increasingly doomed to relegation.

Warrington hit the front twice in a first half that ended 12-12.

Daryl Clark darted over for their first on 14 minutes, which was cancelled out by stand-in centre James Batchelor, who touched down after Mason Lino’s kick was dropped.

Gareth Widdop restored Warrington’s lead, but the Wolves let the kick-off find touch and from that, Jacob Miller put Matty Ashurst over.

The same pattern followed in the second half, as first Connor Wrench’s try was cancelled out by Batchelor, playing in the centres in the absence of injured England international Reece Lyne.

A long-range Matty Ashton interception try put Wolves ahead for a fourth time, but within five minutes, Liam Hood had levelled the game at 24-24.

And it proved to be a demoralising end for the Wolves as Tanginoa won it to secure back-to-back wins for Wakefield, and a third triumph over Warrington this season.
