Preschool children enhance fine motor skills to create sunglasses

CHILDREN at Bright Warrington Day Nursery and Preschool have been enhancing their fine motor skills to design their own sunglasses during an arts and crafts activity.

Preschool children were recently tasked with exploring a range of materials to use and get creative with in order to design their sunglasses and wear outside. Finished products included the use of coloured tissue paper and cardboard.

Nursery Manager Emma said, “Together they talked about what they needed to make their sunglasses and developed their fine motor skills using scissors and threading different materials. All children are unique and develop at their own pace, progressing gradually through a range of stages before they are able to hold a pencil or pen to write. Our curriculum then moves on to fine motor development and hand-eye coordination.”

Arts and crafts is a particular aspect of the company’s Bright Beginnings curriculum which allows children to experiment creatively and enhance their finer motor development.

Providing exceptional experiences and giving children and their families the best possible care and early years education is at the core of everything the team at Bright Horizons do. If you’re interested in a career in Early Years then please click here or email [email protected]
