Pre-Christmas twinkle as school lands another national award

THERE was an extra pre-Christmas twinkle at Bruche Primary School when the Warrington primary learned that it had achieved another national accolade for its teaching and learning.

The school has been presented with a national award for its Religious Education teaching. The RE Quality Mark was awarded after assessors were impressed by the way the subject was taught and weaved through other aspects of the curriculum.

The assessor praised the school for “delivering RE in quite a different way to other schools”, adding: “All the learning at the school is linked though three strands of career, local studies and environmental pathways.

“I have not come across this method of curriculum delivery, but I was impressed with the relevance of RE to the pupils and their understanding of religion within a global community.”
Executive headteacher Chris Jones said: “We are so pleased to achieve the RE Quality Mark because it recognises high-quality RE.

“Our children know RE makes a powerful contribution to their learning and they know it provides them with the chance to explore the big ideas of religion and belief and to think about what matters in their own lives.

“Our RE provision supports the development of the whole child. With the renewed focus on the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development for all children, it is more important than ever that RE is recognised and celebrated.”

Bruche Primary is one of seven primary schools that make up of Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of more than 2,100 children aged 2 to 11.
