Bird’s nest sparks chimney fire at Glazebury

A BIRDS nest falling down the flu of a gas fire started a fire at a house at Warrington.
Firefighters from Birchwood were called to reports of a chimney fire at a house in Millbrook Close, Glazebury, last night.
On arrival at the scene the crew found that a birds nest had fallen down the flu of a gas fire and burst into flames. Firefighters isolated the gas, they then used specialist equipment to extinguish the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
They also used a ventilation unit to clear the smoke from the property.
Firefighters were detained at the scene for around 80 minutes.
