Two more COVID-19 related deaths as infection rates fall slightly

WHILE two more COVID-19 deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington Hospital, infection rates over a seven day period have fallen slightly for the first time in recent weeks.

The 151 (163) new cases reported by Public Health England, takes the total number of cases in Warrington since the start of the pandemic to 33,157 (33,006).



Infection rates in Warrington have fallen slightly for the last seven days for the first time in recent weeks to 1,333 (1,353) – 636.6 (646.1) per 100,000 population over a seven-day period but remain well above the national average of 446.2 (434.6) per 100,000, which continue to rise.
Two more deaths have sadly been reported at Warrington & Halton Hospital taking the total to 541, while inpatient numbers have fallen from 40-36, with five patients discharged in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile the UK has recorded another 49,139 new COVID cases and 179 virus-related deaths. The cases figure is the highest since 17 July, when there were 54,674 cases.
A total of 320,594 cases have been recorded in the last week – an increase of 17.2%.
Another 42,902 first doses of a COVID vaccine administered in the latest 24-hour period – meaning a total of 49,505,327 people have had at least one jab.
A total of 45,433,757 people are now fully vaccinated, an increase of 32,767 on the previous day.
The vaccine figures now include children aged between 12 and 16.

The total number of deaths in Warrington within 28 days of a positive test reported by Public Health England is currently 511 (511) 244 per 100,000 population compared to the national rate of 207.3.
The total number of deaths with Covid-19 on the death certificate in Warrington reported by Public Health England in all settings is 591 (591).

Across the UK the daily number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths reported on Wednesday, October 20 2021 was 179 (223), taking the total number of deaths to 139,031 (138,852).
The daily number of lab-confirmed UK cases was 49,139 (43,738), taking the total number to 8,589,737 (8,541,192).
Across the country, there are 7,891 (7,749) patients currently in hospital and 850 (823) on ventilation.
