LATCHFORD was transformed into a colourful celebration of community spirit at the weekend as families gathered for the Latchford Carnival of Creativity.
The free event, held on Saturday, August 22, at Westy Park and Community Centre, brought together local residents for an afternoon packed with entertainment, creative activities and family attractions.
Organised by East Latchford Friends, the carnival provided something for all ages, with live performances from local singers, bands, dancers and other performers helping to create a lively atmosphere.
Children were able to take part in a wide range of activities, including cupcake decorating, face painting, tote bag making and storytelling, while community organisations showcased their work and provided opportunities for visitors to get involved.
Among those taking part were Animal Teach, Cheshire Fire Service, Warrington Police Museum, Latchford History Group and Odinn Born Vikings.
The carnival also featured fairground rides and Hula Hula Circus Skills, while a variety of food and refreshments were available throughout the afternoon.
A special visitor was Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Sagheer Zaman, who joined residents at the carnival and praised the community spirit on display.
The carnival was part of a busy weekend of community events across Warrington and attracted families keen to enjoy a free afternoon of entertainment close to home.
Organisers described the event as a celebration of creativity, community and local talent, with the carnival providing an opportunity for residents to meet, socialise and discover more about organisations working in the Latchford area.
The event was centred around Westy Community Centre on Bridgewater Avenue, with Westy Park providing additional outdoor space for the festivities.
For many families, the carnival provided a welcome opportunity to enjoy the summer holidays without having to travel far from home – while highlighting the strength of the community in Latchford.
With its mixture of entertainment, activities, local organisations, food and family fun, the Latchford Carnival of Creativity once again demonstrated the important role that community-led events can play in bringing neighbourhoods together.
