Popular Bears Paw set to welcome guests back with revamped outdoor space

THE popular Bears Paw Inn near Lymm is all set to welcome guests to their revamped outdoor space tomorrow, Monday (April 12) after benefiting from a joint investment by Publicans Jason and Mel Craig and Punch Pubs & Co as part of their Inside|Outside investment scheme.

Punch designed the scheme, investing over £1M into hundreds of their pubs’ outdoor spaces, to enable Publicans to maximise the opportunity of trading safely outside in line with Government guidance.
Over the past year, Jason and Mel have worked hard to remain at the heart of their community at High Legh, near Lymm. They recognised the importance of providing an outdoor space to keep guests safe, so set to work on their beer garden. The pair have rejuvenated the Bear Paws’ outdoor area, with it now boasting a variety of spaces for guests to enjoy.

They started last year with an open space that comprised of a few picnic benches and parasols. They added a pergola with a roof and retractable sides to enable guests to enjoy the outdoor space in all weather. The vision grew, and over the Christmas period, it became a true winter wonderland. The team reshuffled the area to enable them to welcome the same number of socially distanced guests outdoors as they could inside. Decked with cosy throws, candles, festooned lighting and heating, guests enjoyed an authentic alfresco experience.
As the weather improves, the Bears Paw will adapt by replacing hot chocolates with gin and tonic. Their outdoor space will take on an orangery theme, with stunning plants and bright bric-a-brac, enabling guests to enjoy the pub, with the option of shelter and warmth, if the British weather insists on it!
As well as the transformed courtyard space, the pub will open the brand-new Shack. The Shack offers covered seating for up to eight people and is ideal for private bookings. The Bears Paw will also open its grassed beer garden with plenty of picnic-style seating.
Jason said:, “We’re so pleased with all the changes we’ve been able to make to our outdoor space. We’ve always seen great potential in this fantastic area, and we’re so pleased we’ve finally taken the plunge and upgraded it! We have designed two amazing outdoor concepts we can rotate every year, meaning the pub will always match guests’ requirements according to the seasons. We’ve done everything we can to provide our guests with a natural pub experience, and we can’t wait to see them back here”.
Operations Manager Jenni O’Grady added, “It’s been fantastic to work with Jason and Mel as part of the Inside|Outside scheme. Whilst this has been a tough year for everyone in the pub industry, it has enabled us to adapt our businesses and make changes that guests can enjoy for years to come”.

  1. This is a pretty interesting business idea to invest, making the most of the safe outdoor trading opportunity as directed by the government. Such ideas can be safely implemented.
