Boutique-style “micro bar” approved for town-centre – despite objections

PLANS for a boutique-style “micro bar” have been approved in Suez Street, Warrington – despite objections from nearby residents.

The scheme involves the change-of-use of an estate agent’s shop.
Neighbours objected on the grounds of noise and anti-social behaviour – stressing that Suez Street already suffered problems arising from people going to and returning from the nearby Cultural Quarter.
They claimed the property was too small to accommodate a bar.
But the applicants said they were planning a boutique-style micro bar selling only exclusive drinks on and off the premises. They would serve seated customers only, catering for a maximum of 20.
Warrington Borough Council planning officers were of the view the development – which would require no exterior alterations to the building – would enhance the vitality and viability of the street.
