Hospital patients keep in touch through “Radio General”

PATIENTS at Warrington Hospital are continuing to stay in touch with the local community via their hospital radio – Radio General.
They can listen for free on bedside units and it is also available online at www.radiogeneral.co.uk or on the TuneIn app.
From March when the lockdown was introduced the station had to rely on a syndicated service. But as time progressed, a number of contributors were able to record their programmes at home to maintain a 24-hour service.
Over the past months contributors have started to return to the studio and present live programmes and are looking forward to presenting a number of extra live and recorded programmes over the Christmas period.
Live programmes are scheduled for Christmas Eve 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Boxing Day between 2:00 and 5:00 pm and the phone lines are open to take requests for patients.
The Houghton Weavers have also agreed their concert from last year can be re-broadcast at 8:00 pm on Christmas Eve.
The Warrington Male Voice Choir’s Christmas Virtual Concert will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 8:00 pm. The Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘Follow The Stars’ Christmas Carol Event will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 5:00 pm, repeated on the following Sunday at 12:00 pm. The full programme schedule is available on line at www.radiogeneral.co.uk.
Members of Radio General are proud to be able to contribute to this vitally important service at this challenging time. To get in touch, leave a message on 01925 662122 or email: [email protected].
