Plan to build 31 houses in the Green Belt

A PLAN to build 31 homes in the Green Belt at Warrington comes before borough council planning chiefs on Wednesday.
The scheme at New House Farm, Hatton Lane, Hatton, involves the demolition of all existing buildings on the site.
They would be replaced by a mix of six detached houses, 16 semi-detached and nine detached houses. There would be nine “affordable” homes, including four for rent and five for shared ownership. There would also be parking spaces and community open space, including an orchard.
Objections have been lodged by seven nearby residents, Hatton Parish Council and borough councillors Judith Wheeler and Sharon Harris.
The objectors say the site is in the Green Belt and the development would not be sustainable because there are no shops, no school, no health facilities, no church and only an irregular bus service in the village.
But planning officers are recommending approval of the scheme. They say it is a brownfield site and that the development would not have a significant impact on the Green Belt.
Given its rural location, the site is reasonably well connected by bus to nearby areas, including to areas of employment, they argue
