New house will replace old, disused property at Culcheth

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a new house to be built on the site of an old, disused property at Culcheth.
They agreed with officers that the scheme in Broseley Lane, which will involve demolition of the old house and outbuildings, would result in an improvement of the appearance of the area.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council and a number of neighbours had opposed the scheme on the grounds it would result in an overdevelopment of the site, loss of privacy and a loss of trees and wildlife habitats.
There were also concerns about a dangerous access to the site and flooding as it was claimed the rear of the existing property already had flooding issues.
Officers pointed out that the existing buildings were disused and in a poor state of repair. They did not add anything of aesthetic value to the area.
Nearby Leigh Golf Club had drawn attention to a covenant on the land, but officers said this had no planning relevance.
