IN previous years Culcheth & Glazebury Parish Council would at this time be thanking everyone for making Community Day a success, especially all the charities that work so hard year in, year out.
But of course due to Covid-19 pandemic we are in very different times, and thanks go to the brilliant NHS staff and Key workers for their hard work and sacrifice.
The parish council would also thank so many more people who have helped our residents through these difficult times. As events move on and situations change, if you or someone you know needs help or support, you can complete an on-line form on www.warrington.gov.uk OR ring the coronavirus helpline on 01925 442441 or 01925 442443.
You can also contact your Borough and Parish Councillors – for contact details go to the parish web site: culchethandglazebury-pc.org.uk The Parish Council now meets via Zoom and Borough Council planning meetings use Teams. The planning system continues, though with delays, and if residents have any concerns or need help with an application, please contact the council using contact information on Parish Notice boards, in the library when it opens and the council’s website culchethandglazebury-pc.org.uk.The Local Plan has also been delayed and at the time of writing there is no date for a Public Inquiry.
The council now have a new chairman for the year 2020- 2021, Parish Councillor Peter Holmes. The deputy chairman is Parish Councillor Margaret Webber.
Most of the larger planning issues affecting the villages are to do with traffic, and the council oppose those that would put more traffic on roads and create congestion.
HS2 2b has approval in principle but the Golborne Link is still opposed by the local MP, Warrington Borough Council, MPs from neighbouring areas, the parish council and CADRAG.
The parish council recently commented on a rail consultation to make clear that improved East West Rail was the priority.
