FIREFIGHTERS from the Warrington area had a busy day on Thursday tackling three lorry fire incidents.
The first incident took place at 08:23 on West Quay Road, Warrington when two fire engines from Warrington and Birchwood were called to reports of large vehicle fire in the cab of a truck.
Two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The crew then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
Firefighters were in attendance at the scene for around one hour.
Then at 10:03 two fire engines from Warrington and Penketh were called to a HGV fire on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 near to junction nine, Winwick.
On arrival crews found that the vehicle was not on fire, but the brakes had over heated causing them to smoke.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet to cook the brakes and were in attendance at the scene for around 45 minutes.
Finally at 1pm firefighters from Warrington, Birchwood and Greater Manchester were called to reports of a lorry fire on the M6 southbound between junctions 21A and 21.
On arrival they found a lorry parked on the hard shoulder which was well alight.
Two lanes of the carriageway were temporarily closed while two firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.
They then used a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.
There were no reports of any injuries.
