Planners approve new house on site of old farm

THE long-running saga of Eaves Farm House at Croft came to an end when Warrington planning chiefs gave permission for a new house to be built on its site.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee decided the principle of residential development on the site in Cross Lane was acceptable.
They were told the design and size of the new house would be almost identical to the former farm house, which was believed to be more than 170 years old.
Despite its age, Cheshire Archaeological Planning Advisory Service – who had earlier expressed concern about the demolition of the original house – now said there were no outstanding archaeological issues.
The house was demolished earlier in the summer after it was decided it was structurally unsound.
It was then decided to defer a decision for more information after Croft Parish Council – which had originally opposed the demolition – expressed concern.
Officers said the principle of residential development, including its impact on the Green Belt, was acceptable, the design of the proposed house was acceptable and the living conditions of neighbour would be protected.
There were no concerns over the safety of access to and from the site.
