Could Warrington support a full marathon?

CONGRATULATIONS to Rob Griffiths and the team who put on the annual English Half Marathon event which this year celebrated 10 years and has been described as “one of the best yet”.

For me it was certainly THE best yet, as after covering the event for the previous nine years I took the plunge and entered my first ever 10k this year, which I am delighted to announce I completed in 1:12 – not bad for my first attempt.

A big thank you to Rob for inspiring me to take part – as running has never been my cup of tea – in fact I didn’t start until earlier this year, so it shows what can be achieved with a little bit of dedication and hard work.

Together with my fellow warrington-worldwide team members we have helped raise nearly £5,000 for the Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace.

A big thank you to everyone who sponsored us and donations can still be made here https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/WarringtonWorldwide

It is hard to describe the thrill of finishing your first ever 10k especially being cheered on by thousands of spectators – I will certainly be back for more next year and looking at entering two teams – one for the 10K and one for the Half Marathon!

If anyone is interested in putting their name down for one of our teams let me know by emailing [email protected]

Once again congratulations to Rob and the team for putting on a superb event for our town – it may be time to start looking to see if a full marathon route is possible!!!?

I know having spoken to Rob he is not too keen on the idea because of the additional expenditure required – but if enough backers and sponsors came forward – may be, just may be it could happen.
