Bungalow to make way for house

PLANNING chiefs have given the green light to proposals to demolish a bungalow in Wellfield Road, Culcheth – and replace it with a taller, larger, dorma-style house.
They scheme was opposed by Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council on the grounds the new property would not fit in with the street scene because of its height.
But they were also concerned at proposed parking provision on site which they believed inadequate and likely to lead to obstructive parking in Marton Close.
Three objections were also received from neighbours who felt the proposed dwelling would a house, not a bungalow, and would be overbearing and out of keeping with the character of the area.
However, planning officers recommended the scheme be approved. They said although the new building would be higher than neighbouring properties, it would still fit into the character of the street as existing properties had varying heights and designed.
They also felt the parking arrangements would be satisfactory.
