New Lymm Transport Day attraction set to leave giant footprints

THE team behind Lymm Historic Transport Day have been busily working away behind the scenes over the Winter to come up with a show that will live up to the event’s reputation as one of the most popular transport events in the region.

“It’s not easy to find something fresh every year” said Field Manager John Parry. “But we think we have come up trumps this year. After an absence of 250 million years we are bringing back the Lymm dinosaur in the shape of a 17 foot long semi-animatronic creature that will roam the May Queen field. In between times kids will also be able to interact with freshly hatched baby triceratops.”

But it will still be transport, transport and more transport on the rest of the field from a one-day only narrow gauge railway steaming out of a recreated Lymm station to a return visit from the hugely popular Spitfire plane. There will even be the chance for kids to try their hand as a digger-driver as well as visiting LEGO and model-railway exhibitions.

This year’s patron and special guest will also be making a bee-line for the canal. Liz McIvor will be known to BBC viewers as the presenter of series on both canal and railway history and is looking forward to meeting up with some of the thousands of exhibitors and visitors who transform Lymm into THE Transport Village for one day a year.

As always the event will rely on an army of volunteers to make it all work and they are recruiting now at lymmtransport.org.uk, [email protected] or call Trish Cockayne on 01925 751646

warrington-worldwide  will be bringing you more news of this and other festival events over the next couple of months . But do make a special note that Transport Day will be on June 25th. That is the first Sunday of the Festival rather than the last day as it has been for the last three years.
