Paul’s paintings show village in a new light

ARTIST Paul Scates has been taking a fun look at Lymm – and has come up with a number of quirky paintings which show the village in a different light.
He’s looked at the well-known beauty spots which always attract the attention of artists and painted them rather differently – in a “fun” way, he says.
paul-scates-2Paul took early retirement from his job as director of a textile company because he wanted to paint.
Self-taught, he started painting semi-professionally in 2000 and since then has been out painting all over the North West, particularly in the Stockport area where he used to work.
Some of his work has been commissioned but much has just been for pleasure.
A Lymm  resident, he decided it was time he turned his attention to some local scenes, capturing them in his own style.
He said: “Lymm is a popular destination for artists and there must be hundreds of paintings of local views, painted over many years. I hope mine will show the village in a different light.”
