Town not getting a “fair deal” – Labour

LABOUR have ambitious plans for Warrington – but are not getting a fair deal from the Government.
This is the message from the controlling group on the borough council in its manifesto for next month’s all-out council elections.
Group leader Cllr Terry O’Neill (pictured) said: “This manifesto is all about getting a fair deal for the people of Warrington.
“I am really pleased with the way the Labour councillors, constituency parties and ordinary members all worked together to create a really inspiring vision for the town.
“Since taking over the Town Hall from the previous Lib-Dem/Tory coalition we have had many successes including saving the taxpayer over £600,000 by reducing the numbers of senior managers.
“But over the next four years we also have ambitious plans to improve the town by improving local parks, creating better community facilities, building more affordable homes, addressing Warrington road network, and creating more jobs and apprenticeships.
“However, whilst we have ambitious plans for the town we cannot ignore the fact that we are not getting a fair deal from the Tory government.  “It has already taken over £77 million from our budgets and by 2017 we will have lost over £100 million.  Investment in Warrington and other
parts of the North West is significantly less than what the Tories are doing in their South of England heartlands.”
