WARRINGTON Borough Council’s parks and woodlands department have planted 18 trees on five sites across Culcheth – and by doing so have won praise from one their sternest critics.
Local resident Janet Evans believes the department deserves credit because have done a “great job” in replacing trees which had been felled.
She said: “They are often quick enough to cut trees down without replacing them, but in this instance they deserve some credit because they have done a great job.”
Four Oaks have been planted on Culcheth Hall Drive, two Purple Beech along Warrington Road, two Beech outside Culcheth High School, five Prunis avium plana near the Raven public house, near Mee Brow and two Weeping Willow, two Silver Birch and one Oak on Culcheth Green.
Most of the trees were planted to replace ones which were diseased and, in some cases, were becoming a health and safety hazard.
